Does GigaHive hosting cost anything?
Absolutely not. GigaHive's free web hosting service is, as the name implies, 100% free.
What will my website address look like?
We setup accounts so that each web address is as short as possible. You may choose whatever website name you wish, and it will look like:
gigahive.com/sites/yourname
or full path: http://gigahive.com/sites/yourname
What types of files can I upload?
You may upload any media files, provided they are legal and under 1 megabyte in size.
Do I need an Index.html? What about WYSIWYG?
Your homepage, or index.html, will be created for you when you sign up for an account. The will be called the "Home" page. You may edit this page however you wish. Note that it will show up whenever you access the url: gigahive.com/sites/yourname. Don't know HTML? No problem! Just use the simple WYSIWYG ("what you see is what you get") editor in your control panel. You can create almost any type of webpage using this simple interface. If you do know HTML, then click on the <> symbol to edit your page's html code.
How long will it take to activate my account?
We will send you an e-mail almost immediately after you sign up for an account. Once you respond to the e-mail you can access your account and start uploading files.
Will ads be placed on my site?
No ads of any kind (banners, pop-ups, etc.) will be placed on free hosted websites.
How do I upload files? What is FTP?
You may upload all of your files via your online control panel. FTP stands for file transfer protocol. Unfortunately at this time we do not offer FTP access to free hosting accounts. If you need FTP, please take a look at our paid hosting plans.
What can I do in my control panel?
Using your online control panel you can upload files, create/ delete webpages, check your disk space usage, and change website/ contact information.
Are PHP and CGI Supported?
Yes, PHP and CGI are both fully supported.
What about MySQL?
Because we're nice, we will personally setup a MySQL database if you request one. Only one database is allowed per account.
Is adult content allowed?
No. Nor do we allow illegal content, such as warez. Accounts containing these materials will be deleted without notice.
Can I place ads on my site?
Of course! You might as well make some income off of your site.
